Inspiration

Early successes with consumer-grade equipment inspired me to reach further, investing in equipment and myself, continuing to "level up" my photography. Also, there have been a few remarkable people who have really encouraged me to continue improving in this craft.  Beyond that, it's been the awestruck reactions I've noted when prints of my photography have been displayed or sold.  It's such a privilege to see others reactions, whether they know me or not, find such measures of connection to the images I've captured!

Techniques

Much of what you'll find here is low-light, long-exposure, or high dynamic range (HDR) photography.  Low-light photography encourages me to press the limits both my equipment and myself, balancing photography craft and composition in challenging settings.  Long-exposure photos require a tripod and have their own special set of techniques based upon the nature of light and motion to be captured (i.e. fireworks).  HDR photography involves post-processing multiple exposures to intensify color, balance highlights and shadows, and reveal detail.  HDR is a great way to produce an image from a photograph that is perceived as a painting.

I'm self taught, guided by enlightened trial and error, research, and experience.  It's been a rewarding journey and I'm so pleased to share my most inspiring accomplishments here with you.
